If you sell on Shopify and you're picking a reviews app, Loox is probably already on your shortlist. It's been around for years and runs on tens of thousands of stores. RightReviews is newer, simpler, and focused on a smaller set of features that we think do more of the heavy lifting per dollar.
This post is a factual head-to-head — not a hit piece. If Loox is the better fit for your store, that's the right answer.
| RightReviews | Loox | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes — up to 50 orders/month, no time limit | Limited free trial only on most tiers |
| Entry paid plan | $29.99/month — up to 500 orders | $9.99/month — typically capped on review requests |
| Photo reviews | Yes (Starter and up) | Yes (a Loox staple) |
| Video reviews | Roadmap | Yes |
| A/B test product listings while keeping reviews | Yes — cross-product review sharing | No native equivalent |
| Undo a botched import | Yes — 48-hour window | Manual cleanup |
| Email support response time | 24-hour (Growth), 4-hour priority (Scale) | Tier-dependent |
Loox publicly lists more tiers and a higher ceiling on order volume than we do. We deliberately keep the line-up short.
We're not going to pretend otherwise — Loox is the better choice if any of the following is true for your store:
If those map to you, install Loox. We'd rather you pick the tool that fits than churn off ours in two weeks.
The reasons people are choosing RightReviews over Loox break down into four buckets.
RightReviews has a dedicated always-free plan — up to 50 orders per month, unlimited reviews, the storefront widget, CSV import/export, and our A/B overrides. No card, no expiry, no countdown. If you outgrow it, you pay. If you don't, you don't.
Loox's pricing page lists trials on paid tiers, not a permanent free plan. For new or low-volume stores, that means the meter is always running.
This is the feature that we built RightReviews around, and we don't know of another reviews app that does it as a first-class workflow.
If you run two near-identical product listings to A/B test which converts better — different photos, different titles, different bundles — you usually have two problems:
RightReviews lets you share verified reviews across product handles in two clicks. You keep the social proof on both variants, and you run a fair test.

If you're migrating from Loox, Judge.me, Yotpo, or a CSV export from another platform, you're going to mess up at least one import. Wrong column mapping, duplicate rows, an extra zero in the rating.
RightReviews stores every import for 48 hours and lets you roll it back in one click. No support ticket. No "delete every row manually" SQL job.
This came directly from talking to merchants who migrated and burned a Saturday cleaning up.
Our Growth plan ($59.99/mo) includes 24-hour email response. Our Scale plan ($99.99/mo) includes 4-hour priority. We answer free-plan emails too — usually within a business day, but we make no SLA promise on the Free tier so we don't over-commit.
Loox tiers their support, like most apps in this category. If you're on their entry plan and something breaks at 2pm on a Friday, your experience may vary.

The two companies don't have an apples-to-apples plan structure — Loox typically gates by review-request emails per month, RightReviews gates by total store orders. If you have low orders but want lots of features, RightReviews tends to come out cheaper. If you have very high order volume and just need a basic widget, Loox's entry tier may be cheaper.
If you've decided to switch, the migration is straightforward:
Step 3 imports your historical reviews with verified-buyer status preserved where we can match the customer email to a Shopify order.

Either way, the cost of switching later is low — both apps store reviews in formats that export cleanly to CSV.
We're not asking you to commit. Install from the Shopify App Store, stay on Free until you've imported your historical reviews and looked at the widget on your storefront, and only pay when you outgrow Free.
