If you sell on Shopify and you're picking a reviews app, Loox is probably already on your shortlist. It's been around for years and runs on tens of thousands of stores. RightReviews is newer, simpler, and focused on a smaller set of features that we think do more of the heavy lifting per dollar.

Loox publicly lists more tiers and a higher ceiling on order volume than we do. We deliberately keep the line-up short.

Where Loox is the better fit

We're not going to pretend otherwise — Loox is the better choice if any of the following is true for your store:

• Video reviews are non-negotiable. Loox has shipped video review collection for a while. We have it on the roadmap, not in production.
• You need referral-marketing built into the same app. Loox bundles referrals and reviews. We do reviews only.
• You want one of the most-installed reviews apps on the App Store. Social proof in app-picking matters to some merchants, and Loox has the install count.

If those map to you, install Loox. We'd rather you pick the tool that fits than churn off ours in two weeks.

Where RightReviews wins

The reasons people are choosing RightReviews over Loox break down into four buckets.

1. There's a real free plan, not a trial

RightReviews has a dedicated always-free plan — up to 50 orders per month, unlimited reviews, the storefront widget, CSV import/export, and our A/B overrides. No card, no expiry, no countdown. If you outgrow it, you pay. If you don't, you don't.

Loox's pricing page lists trials on paid tiers, not a permanent free plan. For new or low-volume stores, that means the meter is always running.

2. Cross-product review sharing — true A/B testing

Our Growth plan ($59.99/mo) includes 24-hour email response. Our Scale plan ($99.99/mo) includes 4-hour priority. We answer free-plan emails too — usually within a business day, but we make no SLA promise on the Free tier so we don't over-commit.

Loox tiers their support, like most apps in this category. If you're on their entry plan and something breaks at 2pm on a Friday, your experience may vary.

The two companies don't have an apples-to-apples plan structure — Loox typically gates by review-request emails per month, RightReviews gates by total store orders. If you have low orders but want lots of features, RightReviews tends to come out cheaper. If you have very high order volume and just need a basic widget, Loox's entry tier may be cheaper.

Migrating from Loox to RightReviews

If you've decided to switch, the migration is straightforward:

1. Export your Loox reviews to CSV (Loox has a built-in export).
2. Install RightReviews from the Shopify App Store.
3. Use our Import → Loox CSV preset. We auto-map their column names.
4. Add the RightReviews theme app extension blocks to your theme.
5. Remove Loox's theme blocks once you've verified the new ones render correctly.
6. Uninstall Loox.

Step 3 imports your historical reviews with verified-buyer status preserved where we can match the customer email to a Shopify order.

Decision framework

Use Loox if:

• You want video reviews today, not on a roadmap.
• You need referral-marketing baked into the reviews app.
• App-install count is a tiebreaker for you.

Use RightReviews if:

• You want a free plan that's actually free.
• You're running A/B tests on product listings.
• You're migrating from another platform and want safe imports.
